90 Days as a Copyright Auditor—Join me.

Today marks 90 days working as a copyright auditor in quality control for Adecco Temp Services at Google. I want to share what I have learned, what books I am reading, and what speakers I am enjoying as I make my way in this arena.

• I’ve learned the origin of copyright

• I’ve read about the origin of the symbol

• I started reading books about copyright, and learned how the seemingly neutral language of the US Copyright code belies racist and sexist barriers for artists

• Because of what I do at work, I definitely learned how to protect my own creations…and I’ve come to realize that trying to do so may still never be enough to prevent fraud.

• I also learned that you must try to protect your work anyway and get it “out there” however you can, because some random stranger you’ll never meet will see your creation and will have needed it desperately at that moment. This will happen.

I’ve learned so much in 90 days. I wish to share this info in a more formal format.

To that end, on July 18th, I am hosting an online session where we discuss our concerns, as artists, regarding the protection of our work. Artificial intelligence (and what it is), contracts, theft-of-work-online, and more will be covered.

Send questions to PianoLady88Keys@gmail.com and I‘ll do my best to include them.

Finally, I learned that for sure I am in the right place at the right time in history and in my life to help inform the public about their rights as artists and creatives, and I am eager to become an attorney so that I can rightly defend them in court.
