A Call to Action
We need to discuss our current administration.
It would be irresponsible for me, a teacher, producer, and administrator who leads other human beings, to ignore what is going on in the White House.
Silence means acquiesence in this case.
To be clear:
- When we talk about curriculum development and understanding socioeconomic changes as it relates to how you teach, this is exactly what I mean.It is now an act of defiance in the United States to dare to celebrate African-American history month, to celebrate Women’s History Month, to celebrate Pride Month.We will celebrate with passion.
- That was not an “awkward salute”. If you believe that is was, then do it at work this morning in front of your boss and see what happens.Yeah, that's what I thought.
- As a mathematician and a hiring person, I do not understand how a plane crash was the result of *checks notes * diversity hiring (*deep, deep sigh, rubs temples*)
- Being a brown woman in this country has always been dicey. Now the folks who don't like the fact that I exist are emboldened. I am aware of it and am moving about the earth accordingly.This is not an exaggeration: my existence—the fact that I dare to be happy, healthy and whole, out loud and with enthusiasm—is an act of rebellion.They can choke on their dissatisfaction.Die mad, Nazis.
- This administration will end in 206 weeks, so he’ll be, I don’t know, gone. Away. Quiet.The people who put those people there, though, will still be here, doing bad things, being duplicitous right to my face and your face while doing whatever miserable cowardly losers do. I'm aware of that too and this informs my movement and connections.
My enthusiasm will not wane.
My focus will remain sharp.
I stand defiant.
