Change-maker

Sometimes moving about the earth like a beacon of light is enough to cause change.

Sometimes quietly sitting on a bus or kneeling is enough to cause change.

Sometimes putting truth to rhythm is enough to cause change.

Sometimes walking instead of riding is enough to cause change.

You cannot do it all.

But if we each do a little, what dreams could we make manifest together?

Because as Sam Cooke sang, A change is gonna come.

Because as John Legend and Common sang, The Movement is a rhythm to us

Because we need to continue, as bell hooks wrote:

to shovel and sift

until history

rewritten resurrected

returns to its rightful owners
