Do teachers watch shows about teachers?

This photo was stolen taken from IMdB. I hope they don't mind.

That's a common question—do teachers watch shows about teachers?

Sometimes.

There's a lot of trash out there written by non-teachers, and trash originally written exceptionally well by teachers but then totally trashed and poorly produced by non-teacher executives.

There's no way I am linking anything here nor am I providing examples because I want to work with all of those executives someday. But you can do your own research by watching a bunch of movies, which is not a bad way to spend a weekend.

One of the reasons why there is resistance to some teacher depictions is by the time the opening credits roll in the show or film, so many laws have been broken with the characters that all those teachers would be fired immediately in real life.

I'm exaggerating. But not by much.

Abbott Elementary is a household favorite, and Janelle James as Principal Ava Coleman is so ridiculously over-the-top that she is my favorite character. And I have looked up every outfit she's ever worn on every episode to find out where to get the look.

Ava must get paid w.e.l.l. as principal and with her side hustles.

But oh my goodness she'd've been fired so many times, for sure.

So, to answer the question, if the show has some basis in reality, and the writers kind-of try to keep it sort-of realistic, and if it's funny with some inside jokes for teachers, yeah.
