Grief on December 15, 2025

There is too much grief to write educational stuff today.

Brown University, a private Ivy League research university in Rhode Island, US, experienced a breach in humanity when a person killed two people and injured nine others in a gun attack.

In Sydney, Australia, two people--father and son, apparently--opened fire at a Hanukkah festival that was taking place on Bondi Beach. Sixteen people died, including the gunman, and many others were injured.

Then, I woke up this morning to the horrific news that Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were stabbed to death. It is impossible to explain the influence his movies had on my life--from films such as The Princess Bride, Stand By Me, Spinal Tap, Misery, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men. And there's his activist life-- it is fair to say that he played a significant role in helping achieve marriage equality.

So today I am filled with grief. We will let it be ok to be sad today.
