Guilt-free, unbothered rest is a necessity
Chai and thick socks are happening now

Drinking chai with coconut milk, while wearing thick socks, Hello Kitty pajama bottoms and a sunflower top…this is the agenda this evening.
My wall is the TV screen. I'm flipping channels.
Carter is purring on the rug.
There's a lemon poppy seed muffin taunting me on the counter.
It's 8:50 pm Eastern. There is no guilt, no feelings of “I should be busy”. I'm curled up on the chaise lounge texting friends and comparing phone plans.
Guilt-free, unbothered rest is tough to come by, but it is worth trying and trying and trying for. I promise you it is.
If today you get five minutes of unbothered, guilt-free rest, that's more than yesterday, so don't try to “I should do a lot of this” on yourself.
Some days, I barely get five minutes, other days I can go on vacation. But every day I try because those moments are precious and much needed.
We teach this to our piano students.
