Facebook, Instagram and Threads accounts have been shut down.

We are on Bluesky.

For posterity:

The reasons for deletion are manifold. What cinched it, however, was the two-time Nazi salute at the inauguration, the relationship between Meta and the United States president that is now out and proud, and the lack of fact-checking with a substantial increase in bots, all on the same dang day.

If I had stayed, in my mind, I feel like I would've been showing through my actions that although they're hateful, harmful people, their products are useful, so I'll just overlook it.

If a student asked me, Are you on Insta?, and I said, “Yes”, knowing what I witnessed with my own two eyeballs and heard with my own two earballs, then I’m on the side of supporting the people who mean to harm, and I could not look my student (or myself) in the eye.

It’s different if I didn’t know. But I do know.

I saw it.

We all did, and we each must choose how we interpret it.

I choose to interpret it as “Nazis are bad”. The entire Indiana Jones series was about that.

So, no.

No-ah.

This isn't, "Pineapple doesn't belong on pizza". (It absolutely does).

This is, “These people want to hurt others”.

I cannot abide.

And, frankly, we are only on Day 4 of 1,460.
