My first time getting paid as a musician

December 11, 2025 is my first time getting paid as a musician.

I have worked as a musician for years. But I was always credited as the executive producer, the composer, the writer, the director, and/or the set designer. I have been paid to teach music, theory, technique and embodiment of the performer.

The bananas thing is, I've done well with all of that--I've won awards, produced really great work, and created soundscapes that go along with all of those things, often performing all of the instruments on the tracks.

Five days ago, though, is the first time I have been paid specifically as a musician.

Yes, it is incredibly validating.

Yes, it is a rush that is like no other.

Yes, it feels amazing.
