My weekend of music
The Faculty Handbook

Teachers, go see some shows.
Before you yell, “When?!?” in exasperation, read on:
It's the holiday season. You're rehearsing. You're performing. And dealing with family. And seasonal affective disorder if you live in this part of the hemisphere. And maybe managing sobriety while dealing with [insert woes].
Make time for joy.
If you were my stressed-out friend, we would grab a quick bite to eat at a place with live music.
You don't need much. That'll do. Just do something.
I made time this weekend to see Wicked and to see Janel Mills on oboe with the University of Michigan Alumni Concert Band.
First, just go see it. Go see Wicked.
Second, you should’ve been at Saline High School Auditorium at 3 pm today. Director Rachel Zephir deftly lead the concert band through a solid hour of wonderfully subtle and brash and lovely and rhythmic music, ending with the U of M fight song.
Yes.
Soothe your soul with music. Seek it out.
You're working very hard.
You get to enjoy it too.
You deserve it.
