Noel Night on WSU campus

Lemme tell you about me and Noel Night:

I don't think I've missed it except when I lived in California.

I love it.

Two things happen:

A. If I haven't had tamales by now to start the holiday season, I have tamales.

This is because one of my closest friend's mom used to make them the night after Thanksgiving, and I'd find a way to be “invited” over to get in on those home made dishes. Mrs. Crowe has passed on now, so I think of her when I go get them.

B. I find the musical jewels.

Ensemble groups, metal bands, soloists…you'll find artists who poured into their talents.

Food is available…but I'm usually full from tamales, so rarely do I partake.

Among the decorations and lights and songs, there will be people. Most will be in good cheer.

It's warmer today than it has been in the past so hopefully the events will be outside. Last year, everything was in buildings and it was…um…not the same.

Magic can happen too.

It was Noel Night when I ran into my band teacher from high school and was able to gush over how I've continued in music in all the ways.

I love watching couples duck under trees to kiss and gaze into each others eyes while listening to violin music. It's amusing to listen to a parent educate their six-month old, explaining the nuances of Strauss in whispers to a giggling infant.

Noel Night is fun. If you haven't had any live music yet, come swing by and get your fill.
