Teachers are remembering who we are.
The Piano Instructor

We’re giving ourselves flowers.
We are beginning to believe, collectively.
Consider:
We are experts in our field, regardless of whether those who write the legislation get that or not.
We've spent years earning degrees, years performing and honing our craft, years dreaming and creating.
Workshops, seminars, classes, music camps, online groups…we have to do it all, both attend them and create them. And we do it gladly, grudgingly, in numbers and alone.
We are learning how asking for help is important—we are naturally connected as artists but have just started embracing the global dimension of education in which we exist.
We are learning how to protect our work, our health, our lives. It's a new day, and we are here for all of it.
We understand the power of royalties and licensing for our music as well as our educational resources. We understand that this frightens the Establishment who have long benefitted from our free labor.
A single lesson plan can teach thousands around the world, and often do. We can choose to give our work away, to charge premium prices for it, and everything in between. We understand our power now, and we are sussing out how to use it wisely and for the greater good...and also pay the bills and travel to the places we teach about.
Science and art, physics and emotion, the elegance of the piano and the vibrance of the shared souls in the venue…we know so much more about how it all works.
We are Teachers. And we’re beginning to believe.

For the month of December, a portion of The Faculty Handbook is available for $69.
It's the chapter on Practice—how to get students to practice.
See for yourself how you can improve enrollment and teacher satisfaction. I’m a mathematician—I wrote this in such a way that the return on investment is far above the purchase price, if only for the structure of the video itself. Many of the pages are pulled directly from The Faculty Handbook, so you can see for yourself the value of the larger investment over time.
It's available exclusively on Teachers Pay Teachers.
