Teachers must watch masters to grow.
Lady Gaga took us to school on SNL

Part of my education as a performer and an educator involves watching the masters. Yup, going to the concerts and listening to the podcasts and sitting in the back of stand-up rooms and all of the everythings keep me sharp and push me to level up in my own art. I'm working on a couple of purely creative, not-for-money projects so that I can learn how to do cool things with electronica simply for the joy of it and I'm exploring nursery rhymes, folk songs and Czerny with some bass.
Let that simmer.
Lady Gaga blazed a new course for all of us on March 8, 2025 during Saturday Night Live (appropriate since that was also International Woman's Day).
Why was this performance so pivotal?
From her opening monologue to closing credits, she clearly appeared comfortable and sure. This likely gave her full permission to be free—and wow was she free.
Unabashedly passionate or coy or lively or oddly sincere (Pip), Ms. Lady Gaga not only shared her art, she was her art.

She did not come upon this by accident. She has continued to study with voice teachers, to work with choreographers, and to travel to get different perspectives and outlooks.
The masters study. Take heed, teachers.
What we witness in concert with her at the helm is the result of continued effort, discipline, dedication and sacrifice.
Lady Gaga has earned her accolades through focus, study, and practice.
And wow did she show up last night.
