What makes us excellent?
- We teach the science behind the art. This is probably the one thing that separates us from all other music studios across the nation.The Piano Instructor is lead by an international speaker in STEM, a certified teacher, and a concert pianist (me!), so teaching the connection between the piano, the music, and the science and math is totally natural and embedded in the Mozart and the Minaj.We of course teach the artistic. Here’s the thing: We want to make sure each student knows how they are generating these vibrations. This knowledge is usually reserved for elite students.Balderdash.Everyone who studies piano should know it, and the way we teach it, it's totally intuitive.And, wow, the quality of music dramatically increases when you know how it all works.
- You will learn the “why"s of it all:Why must I put my fingers here?Why must I have a piano versus a keyboard?Why do I breathe here versus here?Why do we sit this way?Why do I have to learn this boring/tedious/uninteresting thing?
There are reasons for every single suggestion, based in science, physiology, anatomy and physics. We don't say things like “That's just how it is”.
- Regular recitals are the norm.That's the point of all this. All of our teachers perform regularly. The only way to get over fear of performing is by performing, and the best situation is to be surrounded and encouraged by expert performers. We will not let you fall.
- We encourage you to share your original compositions—after you copyright them.One of our pianists is an attorney, and she guides me as well as other artists to make sure our original art is protected. I have several songs copywritten this year alone, and it's only April.
